Division 1 West

Crymych 32 Llangennech 15

If the traditional rugby season was re scheduled and it started after Christmas, Crymych would now be on course to winning the division title as they have been on fire ever since.

Gareth Davies with a cheeky offload!

Once Santa disappeared over the horizon the Preselimen, who had been struggling to put any sort of performance together and with just one win to their name, suddenly clicked and despite the disruptions caused by the weather and the Six Nations they have been far more consistent since the Festive period.

Their last nine games have produced eight wins and one defeat and this latest victory has sealed another season of division one rugby and completed one of the greatest escapes from relegation seen for many a year.

Their 32-15 win over a Llangennech side who have enjoyed a reasonably successful season was well deserved and if this run continues, and there are three games to play, Crymych could end up in the top five.

The Preselimen led 24-15 at half time thanks to tries from second rower Llyr Davies, outstanding centre Carwyn Phillips and fly half Gavin Thomas along with three conversions and a penalty from the boot of in form centre Jake Jenkins.

For Llangennech there were first half tries from scrum half Tom Neale and centre Rhys Davies, one of which was converted by outside half Kris Vaughan to go with a penalty.

Crymych flanker Sion Colella crossed for a try after the break to put his side in a commanding position and secure a bonus point and Jenkins added another three pointer to complete the scoring late on.
